THE GHOST OF SANTA FE

CAVE -

So familiar, opening an unlocked door,
Time to be the bigger one, who earns the bruise and scars,
Instead of crawling on hands and knees,
when confronted by the sun ...

So familiar, a switch to light the casing,
Of stairs that creak to ruin all elements of surprise,
No use in trying to hide, from the possum playing inside,
... Sleep, I can only hope for sleep ...

Close the door and try not to spin,
It's never like this, when rehearsing in my head,
Close the door, don't let the outside in,
Trying to explain myself, the excuses and pretends ...

The walls are caving in ...

So familiar, water to refresh my lines,
The more serious I come across,
The less you cut right through the lies,
Makes the more I walk this rope,
Seems like I stumble just to try ...

So familiar, pull the covers near,
Not looking forward to noon and after,
Fearing your disappointed whys,
Faster hopes the night will come,
So I can numb the pain with highs,
... Sleep, to have my little dream ...

Close the door and try not to spin,
It's never like this, when rehearsing in my head,
Close the door, don't let the outside in,
Trying to explain myself, the excuses and pretends ...

The constant keeps with every change of heart,
Tears in your eyes, bring me back to the start,
Burn all the books and fairly tales,
Reality's my front, the side that failed ...
